Spotlight: Madison County Farmer's Market

When I decided to start a food blog, I wanted to highlight local farmers and farmer markets around the Tennessee Valley that are providing some of the best local produce, flowers, and baked goods. Recently, I visited the Madison County Farmer's Market in Huntsville, Alabama. I have visited this market several times before and I always find it so interesting to speak directly with the men and women, who through a lot of hard work and long hours, provide me the most flavorful tomatoes, the sweetest strawberries and the most crisp lettuce.
You could smell these strawberries before I even entered the Farmer's Market because they are that sweet.

Shown here are some red onions, cabbage and spring onions.

I bought some green and red tomatoes and made some tomato jam (recipe coming tomorrow). Also shown here are cucumbers and green leaf lettuce.

Bugs Bunny would have loved these sweet and crisp carrots!

These onions would be perfect with some fresh tomatoes and cucumbers and some Italian Dressing.

The Madison County Farmer's Market is located at 1022 Cook Avenue (the street that runs besides Krispy Kreme) and is opened Wednesday-Sunday. This farmer's market began in 1814 in the basement of the Madison County Courthouse in downtown Huntsville.
